Active Learning Scenarios

Practice slowing down before jumping to solutions.

In this activity, you will practice Collaborative & Proactive Solutions® (CPS) Plan B through a series of scenarios and a gallery walk.

You will work in pairs, taking turns practicing the roles of Leader and Team Member.

Your goal is not to solve the problem as quickly as possible.

Your goal is to understand what is getting in the way.

As we move through each step of Plan B together, you will first learn about the step, observe it in practice, and then have an opportunity to try it yourself.

Remember:

People do well if they can.

When they can't, our first question is:

What's getting in the way?

Before You Begin

Find your materials.

Your group has received a manilla envelope containing the materials for today's activity.

Inside your envelope, you will find:

Leader role cards

Team Member role cards

Plan B conversation prompts

You will work in pairs.

One person will practice the role of Leader.

One person will practice the role of Team Member.

You will move through the activity together, one step at a time.

Your facilitator will introduce each step before you begin.

Please wait for the facilitator's instructions before moving to the next step.

The purpose of this activity is not to find the fastest solution.

The purpose is to practice slowing down, becoming curious, and understanding the problem before moving toward a solution.
